board trustee alexandrea zamarripa with trustees and superintendent following leadership tasb graduation

Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD trustee and board president AlexAndrea Zamarripa earned the designation of “Master Trustee” upon her completion of Leadership TASB, a program sponsored by the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB). During the fifth and final session, on June 19–22, school board members in the 2023-24 Leadership TASB class presented their team’s findings following yearlong research. Class participants researched five specific critical issues in Texas public education.

In addition to this research, Trustee Zamarripa spent the last year visiting various districts across the state to learn leadership from other Master Trustees and to understand what issues are affecting specific regions in Texas public education.

“Participating in the Leadership TASB program has been a very rigorous journey, but has been worth every experience and life lesson,” said Trustee Zamarripa. “The masterclasses I have attended, districts I have visited or learned about, and leadership training I have received will help me better serve our district, community, and most importantly, our students.  I am very grateful for this opportunity and all the support and encouragement from my family, the district, and the PBTISD community.”

After the graduation ceremony on June 22, Trustee Zamarripa joined the ranks of more than 1,000 school board members statewide who are Leadership TASB alumni. The 2024 Leadership TASB class comprises 33 school board members representing Texas school districts of all sizes and property wealth. Participants who completed all required elements of the study program earned Master Trustee status, the highest designation recognized by TASB.

“We are incredibly proud to congratulate AlexAndrea Zamarripa on her completion of Leadership TASB and earning the prestigious 'Master Trustee' designation,” said Superintendent Brent Jaco. “Her dedication and commitment to our district is truly inspiring. This achievement reflects her unwavering passion for educational excellence and her relentless efforts to advocate for the students, staff, and community of PBTISD. We are fortunate to have her leadership guiding us towards a brighter future.”
