The Pecos Eagles made waves at the 4A Regional Championships this past weekend, delivering standout performances, setting lifetime bests, and proving they belong among the best in the fastest region in Texas.
With both teams competing at an elite level, the boys placed 4th overall, and the girls finished 5th. Several swimmers punched their tickets to the UIL 4A State Meet in San Antonio, extending their season for two more weeks as they gear up for even faster swims.
State Qualifiers:
- 200 Medley Relay – Boys & Girls
- 200 IM – Leon Fuentes
- 100 Fly – Leon Fuentes
- 400 Free Relay – Boys & Girls
- 1M Diving – Zaylee Moya
The team also brought home prestigious regional awards:
- Zaylee Moya – 1m Diving Regional Champion & 1-4A Female Diver of the Year
- Coach Jessica Minjarez – 1-4A Female Dive Coach of the Year
Now, all eyes turn to San Antonio as Pecos prepares to compete at the UIL 4A State Meet. Diving kicks off on Thursday, February 13th, with Swimming Prelims later that day, leading into the Finals on Friday, February 14th.
With momentum on their side, the team is determined to drop even more time and deliver their fastest swims of the season on the biggest stage. Go Eagles!
