keeping you informed investing online threats

UPDATE: SEPTEMBER 10, 2024 10:56 AM

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Staff,

We wanted to provide you an update on the social media post circulating yesterday evening indicating a school shooting will occur at “432 area schools.” The district has been informed that the post was traced to an out-of-state location. We’d like to thank all the law enforcement agencies involved in this investigation for their collaboration and swift response.

Due to the state of our world today, we know situations like this can be very stressful and anxiety-inducing for our students, their families, and our staff. However, please know we take the safety of everyone in our schools very seriously and have strong security measures in place. Each campus in our district has a licensed and armed state peace officer. Additionally, a security specialist is responsible for actively monitoring cameras and checking exterior doors regularly.

We’d like to consider that the post was vague and did not indicate a direct location or date. Yet, we will continuously take all threats like this one seriously! We consider the safety of our students and staff our number one priority.

As a reminder, at the top of every page on our website (pbtisd.net) is access to - “KEEP PBTISD SAFE.” This form is a simple and easy way to make a report that immediately goes to a campus administrator, district administrator, and our PBTISD Police Department. School safety is everyone’s responsibility, and your involvement is appreciated - if you see something or know something, say something!

Working together, we can all make a safe and secure environment for our students and staff. Please do not hesitate to call if you have any concerns. Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,
Brent Jaco
Superintendent of Schools
