Josiah Dominguez and the 7th grade basketball team

A huge congratulations to Josiah Dominguez, a 7th-grade student at CMS, who had the incredible opportunity to play boys' basketball this season. According to his mom, Shy Dominguez, Josiah had always dreamed of playing, and thanks to the support of Coach Blake Morris and Charlie Wilson, that dream became a reality. They took Josiah under their wing, providing him with the encouragement and guidance he needed to succeed.

The Seminole JHS players first met Josiah back in

December when they competed against each other, and Josiah showed off his impressive skills on the court. Though Josiah wasn’t able to travel for the next out-of-town game on Monday, January 27, the Seminole Indians had a special surprise for him. They had created an MVP poster for him, and even though he couldn’t make the trip, Coach Morris made sure to present Josiah with the award on Thursday, January 30, surrounded by his family, teachers, and fellow students.

Josiah’s mom expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the team, saying, "You didn't see him for his disability. You saw his ability to play with you all, and I'm so thankful for you all." Josiah’s teachers—Dee Urias, Hayley Fisk, Blake Morris, and Charlie Wilson—have been instrumental in shaping his experience, demonstrating the true spirit of CMS, where they are "Capturing Kids' Hearts" every step of the way. Josiah’s story is a powerful reminder of how support, teamwork, and belief in a student’s potential can make all the difference.
