On Saturday, November 2, the Pecos Mighty Eagle Band competed at the Area marching contest in Amarillo, TX. There were sixteen other highly competitive bands vying for a ticket to the state marching contest. The band was scheduled to perform at 3:30 on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, due to the weather, the band faced three delays, forcing them to perform later in the day. It was extremely rainy, with constant thunderstorms throughout the day. When it finally came time for the band to hit the field, they were filled with excitement and ready to leave it all out there. The Pecos Mighty Eagle Band had an amazing performance and gave it their all.
As the time for results approached, the band was extremely excited to find out if they had punched their ticket to the state marching contest. Due to the weather, finals were canceled, which meant that only the top three bands in prelims would advance to State. However, when the Pecos Mighty Eagle Band was announced as fourth, it was revealed that they would be advancing to the state marching band competition.The Eagle Band tied with the West Plains Band and according to UIL Rules, any band receiving a ranking of 3rd place or higher from at least two of the music judges and one of the visual judges also advances to the state contest.
The Pecos Eagle Band will perform this weekend at the BOA Super Regional Marching Contest in San Antonio at the Alamodome on November 9! The band performs at 2:45 pm on Saturday. The State 4A Marching Band Contest will be held on November 13th, and the band performs at 1:45 pm. The Pecos Eagle Band is eager to finish their marching season on a high note!
