The Pecos-Barstow-Toyah Independent School District (PBTISD) is pleased to announce the results of the May 2024 election for the Board of Trustees.

AlexAndrea Zamarripa has been re-elected to serve a second three-year term. Zamarripa's continued dedication and leadership have been instrumental in guiding the district toward its goals. She looks forward to continuing to work with the other trustees and the Pecos, Barstow, and Toyah communities.

“I am very humbled to be allowed to continue to serve our community,” said Zamarripa. “It is a privilege and honor that I do not take lightly.  I look forward to continue working towards student successes and achieving the goals we have set forth.”

Joining the Board as a new Trustee is Jesus Orosco. Orosco says he is looking forward to working with the PBT community in his new role as a Trustee.

“I want to thank the community for the support shown throughout this election,” Orosco said. “I vow to take this position seriously and to approach it with the utmost respect. I'm here for you. I pledge to stand up for all students & staff in everything we do.”

The Board and PBTISD would also like to extend its gratitude to Cookie Canon for her service over the past three years. Canon served public education for 26 years in addition to her time as a Trustee. Canon's dedication and commitment to the betterment of PBTISD have been valuable, and her contributions have made a significant impact on the district's success.

As the newly elected and returning Trustees assume their roles on May 20, PBTISD remains committed to providing the highest quality education and opportunities for all students. The district looks forward to the continued collaboration and partnership of the Board of Trustees as they work together to achieve excellence in education for the Pecos-Barstow-Toyah community.
