Lone Star Governance
Board Goals
Board Goals are the guiding principles the Board of Trustees use when making decisions, all in the name of student outcomes. Under HB 3, school boards are required to adopt detailed plans that achieve goals in three key areas: Early Childhood Literacy, Early Childhood Mathematics, and College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR).
Board Constraints
Board Constraints were developed and chosen by the Board. Constraints are part of the Lone Star Governance process and represent actions that the Board may not allow the Board or individual Board members, to do.
The Board shall not publicly criticize any decision made by the school board and administration.
The Board shall not be involved in day-to-day operations.
The Board shall not make decisions based on adult conveniences over student needs.
The Board shall not make decisions impacting student outcomes without being well-trained, informed, and prepared.
Superintendent Constraints
The Board worked with the superintendent to develop Superintendent Constraints. Constraints are part of the Lone Star Governance process and represent actions that the superintendent may not allow to happen in the District. The Constraints were developed based on the values found in the Belief Statements and Parameters from the Strategic Plan
The Superintendent shall not allow safety and security initiatives to be a secondary priority.
The Superintendent shall not allow the collaborative partnership between home, school, and community to deteriorate.
The Superintendent shall not allow irresponsible financial practices.
The Superintendent shall not allow adult conveniences to take preference over students' academic progress.
