Becoming a Substitute

We're excited to have you join our PBTISD team as a substitute educator! See the steps below:

  1. Be over the age of 18. Only those 21 and up can substitute at secondary campuses.

  2. Submit an online application using the Frontline Job application system

  3. Attend a Substitute Orientation. Here we will go over all PBTISD policies and procedures. See future orientation dates below.

  4. Complete a fingerprinting process. Texas state law requires all substitutes to be fingerprinted to be allowed to work in a public school.

Teacher/Nurse (No Degree)

$125.00 per day

Teacher/Nurse Long-Term (10+ Consecutive Days; No Degree)

$162.50 per day

Teacher/Nurse (With a Degree)

$200 per day

Teacher/Nurse Long-Term (10+ Consecutive Days; with a Degree)

$237.50 per day

Bus Driver Substitute (Must hold CDL)

$20 per hour

Substitute Orientation

All substitutes are required to attend a substitute orientation before they can begin working on a campus. All orientations are held at the Johnny V. Mata Service and Support Center (100 W. F Street) from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
